The third installment of an annual QM Records gathering of vibes MOVES Festival. We bring a night of inspirational live music energy, with our strongest line up to date.

 

Headlining will be Blue Lab Beats one of the fastest-rising production duos in the world right now, Grammy Award-winning Blue Lab Beats craft a supple, wide-ranging sound that blends boom-bap grooves and jazz-funk hooks are wide-ranging influences inspired by the pioneers of hip-hop and the music of the African diaspora; a sound that tells of London, of today, while hinting at the future.

Fusing elements of alternative R&B, neo-soul and jazz, BINA. is one to watch. Inspired by the likes of Solange, Erykah Badu and IAMDDB, BINA. is representing a generation of vocalists that are choosing not to be constrained by production. Whether on a mellow hip-hop or an experimental jazz beat, BINA.’s voice will always blend perfectly.

 

Kymara

 

Kymara writes and performs music drawing from her own life experiences, exploring themes of love, race and personal growth. Her performance and songwriting embody elements of Nina Simone's storytelling, D'Angelo's soulfulness, and Janis Joplin’s purity and rawness, while her honest lyricism reflects her mother, Josje's influence; exploring and expressing your feelings.

 

Normanton Street

 

Notorious Brighton Music scene stalwarts need no introduction - a musical force consisting of Ned, Nicholson and Phoebe Freya. The band’s sound is lyrically focused with three distinct vocals, jazz influenced guitars, warm bass grooves and tight rhythmic drums. 

 

Illajoy

 ILLAJOY are a four piece band based in London and Brighton who fuse genres such as Soul, RnB and Jazz into their own unique style. They take inspiration from the likes of Anita Baker, Butcher Brown, Ashley Henry, Erykah Badu and Robert Glasper.

 

AFLO. the poet

 

Brighton-based spoken word artist and scholar-activist AFLO uses poetry and spoken word to express her lived experiences and challenge dominant narratives.

Madaliso

Originally from Zambia, Born and raised in Rome, Italy but currently based in the UK - Madaliso is a prolific Independent rapper, songwriter, producer, DJ and event manager who specializes in Alternative Hip-Hop. His music reflects on real life experiences and the everyday world around us. In terms of sound, he experiments with ambient, lo-fi, jazz-tinged soulful instrumentation to create immersive sonic journeys.

 

Beyond The Blue

 

Beyond the Blue are an up-and-coming, Brighton-based Jazz band. Following the Jazz renaissance in London, they are stylistically influenced by various UK jazz artists including Ashley Henry, Binker Golding and Nubya Garcia as well as traditional jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Bud Powell and Grant Green, to form a new sound entirely of their own. Additionally, many of the grooves and rhythms of Beyond the Blue have also been inspired by the Afro-Latin tradition and Latin-Jazz legend Eddie Palmieri.
